My Sunset Seascape Project: Step One

Step one:
Colors to be used:
Alizarin Crimson
Cadium Yellow
Van Dyke Brown – I had to use Raw Umber
Prussian Blue
Midnight Black – I used Ivory Black
Yellow Ochre
Titanium White

Start with a 16″ x 20″ white canvas and using a two inch brush completely cover the canvas with “Black Gesso”. I couldn’t find the exact product at Jerry’s Artarama but they had “Folk Black Coloured Gesso”.

Once the paint is dry place masking tape where you want the horizon to be. This will insure that you have a perfectly straight horizon.
